Modern Trabant Prototype?
April 3, 2009

Can anyone shed any more light on this Trabant prototype, or maybe it was just someone messing about as the car looks like a normal Kombi (be it a 601 or 1.1) with a modern day front end. The styling is very recent and so would not think it was one of the many prototypes from the 70s and 80s.
Contact me if you know anything about this car! Spotted in a museum in Dresen.

I hate to say it, but that’s one ugly car - trying to copy a euro box???? I wasn’t a fan of the asthetic alterations for the 4 stroke & this is more than a step too far I reckon. Bring back cars with an individual look!

It’ll never catch on.
Seriously though, it’s plug ugly, looks like someone took a heat gun to a 601 and squeezed the front up like dough.
New mini…. Embarrasing
New Bug…. Embarrasing.
New Multipla… Embarrasing. (not to mention hideous)
New Trabant…. Will, I suspect, be the same.

i actually like it. i admit the lights in front are a bit much..only 2 headlights and 2 foglights are really needed…if the DDR existed now i doubt the trabant would still look the way it used to!…it would probably have looked like this in say 1992 or 1994 with a vw engine unless DDR came up with another type of thier own engine. we will never know!
