Critch Tramway Red Oktober Day 2008
December 9, 2008
I have Allen, aka TatraSkoda, to thank for a selection of photos from this years meet at Critch Tramway Museum and their yearly East Berlin day:
“Every Year the Crich Tramway museum holds an “East Berlin” day for Eastern European vehicles (including their Berlin and Halle trams). Heres some shots from the event over the years since it began in 2004. This event has been known as “Red Oktober Day” for the last couple of years.” See the whole photo album on Flickr, thanks to Allen for permission to reproduce some of his great work here.

Line of Comecon - made classic cars, headed by a gorgeous GAZ M21 (Volga), winner of the Comecon Cours trophy, awarded by SALT at this years Red Oktober event, Crich. The annual SALT (Soviet Auto Luxury Tour) Rally, and the associated ComeCon Cours event (held this year at Crich) is for classic cars made during the Cold War period - 1945-91. We visit places of Cold-War interest, and enjoy some great touring and comradeship along the way. Although SALT largely features vehicles built under Communism, no political statement is intended or should be implied.

Is this really Derbyshire, England in 2008? Surely with all those funny cars parked on the cobbles it's Berlin, East Germany sometime around 1988?

Two very rare cars for England in 2008: in blue, a Czech Skoda Octavia Super, and in beige, a Soviet GAZ M21 (Volga).
