All Squeeze into the Trabant
April 15, 2008
A recent post on Under the Frog about the author’s first trip in a Trabant while in Hungry reminded me on just how big a Trabant can be inside if you put your mind to it.  The author talked about visions of Trabants with all family members squeezed inside and their belongings strapped to the roof, driving to a typical DDR holiday maybe.
We have had this a number of times. I remember:
the time we gave our friend a lift home and on the way passed her sister and her children on the side of the road waiting for a bus with loads of shopping. It was raining, so we stopped and squeezed four adults, two children, a push chair and countless bags of shopping in our Trabant E832HCD. With the rain and the misted up windows all with faces looking out, I can only imagine the number of faces trying to look in.
the time when we had to move a large number of full sized computers and their 17″ CRT monitors. I took the back seat out of our Trabant E832HCD and got a lot more in that than my friends BMW
the times we went camping and had everything we needed tucked away in the boot
Trabants were made for this sort of stuff I am sure. I have no doubt in thinking correct when I say the Saloon model has a lot more room (once you take the back seats out, just two bolts) than the Combi.
